Reflection: Nobody Rides for Free…

Some of the essays (or whatever you wish to call them) have come in for the new edition and they are awesome and bittersweet. There will be a lot there for folks to see when the book goes out… some of it is still hard for all involved.¬†I wanted to pull out one quote though because it had in it a phrase I was looking for…

“The information you read in this book, the knowledge shared in his podcasts, all of this I was lucky enough to be on the ground floor on. The unwieldy protocols he mentions, those were one of my first training tools…I was there for conversations both exotic and mundane where he, Soulhuntre, myself, and so many others hashed out some of the thoughts and ideas that coalesced into this volume you hold in your hands. These conversations changed my perspective…they were an experience.

More than anything else this is what I hope this edition can help to convey. The experience of the time and of the man. Not simply for ego or nostalgia, though there is plenty of both… but because more than anything else it is the experience that counts. That his (our) experience might resonate with others and give them a feeling of camaraderie when they might otherwise feel as if there was no one thinking those thoughts in the whole wide world.

Like any worthwhile experience there is a cost for all of us, providers and recipients¬†alike. A wise sage whose name has been lost to history once intoned…

“Ass, gass or grass. No body rides for free.”
